ahhh…such “was” life in the fast lane
May 21, 2008Ever notice how life seems to just keep speeding up? So much to do, so little time. Well…I recently decided to slow it down a bit. I watched a commercial awhile back which basically said we need to take responsibility for destressing ourselves. So you’re 10 minutes late, so the grass gets mowed this afternoon rather than this morning, in the grand scheme of things what does it really matter? You know what happened? I now get more done than ever before because I’m not putting pressure on myself and I actually enjoy what I’m doing while I’m doing it rather than looking ahead to the next thing in line. I like mowing the grass now…it’s not a chore anymore…it’s a reason to take a “time out” break and get some fresh air and a bit of exercise (I even reverted to using a hand mower rather than a power mower). I enjoy cooking more now and look at it as an opportunity to be creative. I’ve made some pretty great meals recently rather than just throwing the same old thing on the table. Even laundry no longer seems like a chore. Standing outside hanging clothes on the line in the warm sunshine is actually very relaxing. I can really get lost in my thoughts for a while. I recommend “slowing it down” to everyone. Take time for yourself, enjoy what you do if you can. It not only benefits you to decrease your stress level…it benefits your family, friends…everyone who cares about you.
